Feed your skin some Chlorophyll

IMG_9278

It’s that time of year.  Some people might be drinking green beer but I’ve been drinking something else.  Kale is so last year.  Well, no, not really.  I’m still mixing it in my Vitamix on a daily basis but I won’t lie there is a new green in town and I’m equally as smitten.  Elle MacPherson swears by it.   Rosie Huntington-Whiteley says, “it’s her secret ingredient for an extra healthy boost” (Source 1).  Kate Somerville, Facialist to the stars, drinks it.  I’m talking about Chlorophyll Water.  Let’s take it back to science class for a minute.  Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in algae and plants.  It’s important for photosynthesis which allows plants to absorb energy from light.   When liquid chlorophyll is diluted with water and consumed, it has a plethora of benefits for people.   It is a powerful antioxidant that can function as a deodorizer which helps with breath and body odor.  It also can act as an anti-inflammatory and an anti-microbial agent.  When drank on a continual basis it can make the skin glow and prevent acne (Source 2).   I add several drops to my water in the morning and down the hatch it goes.  It has a very slight minty taste and should be refrigerated after you open it.  You can pick up Liquid Chlorophyll at your local health food store.  It goes without saying, I’m Ivory, not DR. IVORY so just like any supplement, check with your doctor before taking.
