Flower Beauty Midnight Garden

IMG_0747

Olive and I have been trying and testing out products by Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore since they were released.  Initially, all that was available was lipglosses, lipsticks and nail polish but the full line is now on display at our Wal-mart.  I saw the Flower Color Play Creme Shadows and tried to pick some shades that I don’t currently have.  The shadow comes in a little pot like the L’Oreal Infallibles.  It even had a similar stopper in it to keep your shadow pressed down.  Unlike the Infallibles, the pot is made of glass versus plastic so I continue to love Flower’s packaging.  photo

They are not a pressed cream like the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadows, this is more whipped.  If you stick your finger in this, you are going to get too much product and find it messy.  I found the best way to apply this was with a brush like Urban Decay’s Good Karma Shadow Brush.

The color above is Midnight Garden.  In the package, it appears to be a black with glitter.  When I swatched this on my arm, it looked darker than when I applied it to my eye.   I was worried the glitter would be too, um, youthful but I loved it.  It wore well and I had minimal fading at the end of the day.  The glitter was the only thing that faded but I didn’t have any problems with creasing.  It created a nice smokey look but it was subtle enough for the day.

Bottom line:  If you like cream shadows and don’t mind working with an eyeshadow brush, you will like these.  They are blendable and buildable.  The one thing I didn’t love was that it was secured with a sticker.  It looked like a lot of the shadows in the display had been touched as the sticker was ripped off or damaged.  In the end, there were a couple of colors that I loved but I didn’t purchase because I was afraid someone else’s paws had been in it.  Flower by Drew Barrymore is available exclusively at Walmart.  These retail for $7.98.

What do you think?  Will you purchasing or passing?

  1. I think I already have way too many eye shadows that I don’t use. If the Walmart here in town would get the Flower collection, I just want some lip gloss.
