It’s no secret I was excited about Clinique’s Chubby Shadow Tints for Eyes. It was announced last spring that they would be coming out but they hit some production problems and weren’t released until this year. They are here so let’s get to looking. Here is what Clinique says:
Sheer wash of lightweight, creamy colour slips on. Layerable and long-wearing. Versatile, too. Glide one on for a swift wash of colour. Contour with another to add depth, and yet another to highlight. There’s no need to stop at just one.
I wasn’t sure what colors to test but I love to use cream shadow sticks on my lid as an all-over color so I picked up Whooping Willow (a metallic Olive green) and Curvaceous Coal (a Grey-ish Lavender). I love both these colors. Here comes my “everything I say sounds dirty”….the head of this chubby isn’t made for small spaces. It’s just too big. Since the head is big and flat, it was harder to navigate than say the Mally ($25) or Bobbi Brown Cream Sticks ($28). In order for these to look good on my lid, I had to use a small brush, which did work well. The drawback is the chubby sticks are suppose to be a one-stop shop…..fast and easy (I can only take 4 minute showers, remember?). I used these with and without a primer and the color is sheer; although, when I used the brush, it was buildable. You do have time to work with these unlike the Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadows ($20) which set in a nanosecond. They aren’t quite as bullet-proof though. The wear time for me was somewhere around 6 hours before I noticed some fading.
So what do I think of the Clinique Chubby sticks? Well, when someone tells you who they are, believe them. These are chubby and sheer so if that is what you are looking for you will love these. The color choices are gorgeous and the lighter colors like Bountiful Beige or Ample Amber would be perfect for the brow bone. Me? I like these but not as much as I LOVE the new Clinique Intense Lip Colour Balm. I guess I like a chubby better on my lips. Damn, there I go again.
