Have you ever been to a restaurant and the person across from you loves their meal so much, they offer you a bite. You decline but they refuse to take no for an answer. They are going to browbeat you till you have some. They don’t want you to miss out. They will feel guilty eating all the goodness with you never knowing! You HAVE to take a bite. This is me (and another loving member of my family who will remain nameless but you know who you are). I just can’t help it when I love something I have to share it. I can’t stop myself even if it is annoying. Sooooooooo……prepare to be browbeaten.
This post is a little off topic, but watch me make the connection…..one of the best things you can do to look and feel good is eat well. I have been addicted to the App…Fooducate for awhile. I overheard a women talking to her elderly mom while walking through the grocery store the other day as they were trying to dissect food labels and the impulse just took over. I butted right in the conversation and launched into Fooducate. They were amazed
or so freaked out by me that I thought I would share with you!
Fooducate is an App that allows you to scan any barcode, and gives a rating for the food on a scale from A to D. Click here for some more information on how they grade the products. Here is my favorite part about this app though….it gives you healthier alternatives. LOVE!
For instance, I scanned my families favorite Marinara sauce (yes, Italian friends, sometimes I use it from a jar, don’t judge) and it got a rating of B-.
It will tell you why it got this rating (this sauce has a high sodium level for instance) and then give you some other alternatives!
Obviously, if you scan Cheetos, you know what you are going to get (a rating of D+ but who knew they had MSG too!) but it will give you the best of the worst options too. So now you know, Corn Nuts are a better crappy alternative than Cheetos! Are you addicted yet?
Finally, this app is free! FREE! You can download it to your Iphone or Android or if you don’t have a smartphone, you can use the web version. Consider yourself FOODUCATED. I feel better….can’t wait to hear what you think!
