When we heard that Maybelline launched a new Limited Edition collection of their color tattoo eye shadows, we went on a full-on patrol for them. After 3 weeks of misses at Target, Ulta, Walgreens and CVS, they finally appeared. Ironically, this was the text I got from Ivory…”They’re here!”, followed by this picture…
I thought Ivory had asked to take the girl’s picture because she was so excited. No, this was a life-sized display of the girl that runs the Cosmetics Department in Walgreens. She must really love her job! I think that’s great! But she had no idea about these illusive eye shadows and how she was sitting on top of a gold mine. Oh well, maybe it’s just us, but this was a happy, happy day.
On to the Maybelline shadows. Color Tattoo shadows are a long-wear cream eye shadow that can be used alone or under a powder shadow as a primer. We fell in love with the original collection but yearned for more colors. This Limited Edition collection is called Fashion Week 2012 and the shadow colors are:
- Barely Beige-a champagne shimmer
- Gold Shimmer-well, it’s a gold shimmer
- Mossy Green-shimmery, warm moss green
- Rich Mahogany-shimmery plummy brown
We swatched them on both of our arms so you could see the colors on our different skin tones:
We both agreed that these shadows were worth all of the running around and obsessing over. The colors are stunning and the texture is so velvety smooth. The wear time really is looooong, we can’t attest to 24 hours because there really is no circumstance where either of us would wear eye shadow for 24 hours. If you like these, we suggest you hit up your local stores because they won’t be around for long!
